Can I Be Real a Second?

"Can I be real a second? For just a millisecond? Let down my guard and tell the people how I feel a second?"** I've been noticing a trend in my life, one that is keeping me from realizing the bigger potential that life offers. And I'm guessing I'm not alone. You're probably doing the same thing. Here's what happens: I start my day off with some grounding and connecting practices like meditation, yoga, visualization. I feel good. And it lasts only so long before I'm pulled into the details of daily life - work, housework, family life, etc. - and then my energy shifts. I feel pulled to get things done so I start doing things more quickly to fit it all in, and I start to feel out of alignment. A couple things don't work out the way I need them to and anxiety rises. New demands arrive and the pressure builds. Add in the weight of the news of what's happening in the world around me and before I know it instead of living within the expansive energy of the universe I'm now acting from a much smaller container. The problem is energy and perspective. When I start out connected to the energy and perspective of the universe I feel empowered. When I drift away from it, I become disconnected and end up acting just from the energy stored within me, and that will only last so long. I feel like a rechargeable lightbulb that burns bright at first but over time loses its luster and power once unplugged. It can only burn so brightly for so long before needing to be plugged back in. When you think about it from that perspective, the answer becomes obvious: Stay connected to the universal energy.

But we are not used to living life that way. We tap in when we think we need it and then try to fend for ourselves. We connect only momentarily, and then we wonder why life feels harder than it should be. I can feel the drain of living life disconnected, and I know that these unprecedented times call for higher-level solutions. So how will you stay connected to this bigger energy throughout the day? It takes awareness and commitment. And it requires us to shift our mindset away from thinking we can do it alone, because we simply can't. We were designed to live life plugged into the universal or divine energy, one that expands our thoughts and reminds us that life is SO much more than what we experience day to day.

  • When you start to feel out of alignment, stop trying to think your way out of it and ask for divine guidance.

  • When things aren't working the way you need them to, ask the universe "what else is possible that you can not see".

  • When more demands are placed on you, pause and take some deep breaths to create more space within your body and mind.

  • When you feel the weight of the news from the world around you rise above the chatter, lift your awareness so you can see how you can become part of the solution.

Continue to expand the container from which you live and as we all raise our consciousness trust that we're building better lives and a better world.  **Hamilton reference, of course!
